This song is an awesome work of genius.

I know that the intelligent and witty types don’t think that, but what could be more ironic than a song about irony completely failing to include any anecdotes that meet the correct definition of irony?

Plus I just love Alanis…. possibly because of my as yet unexplained Canadian attraction thing.

Of course, my version sounds completely unlike her versions…. as you’d expect. Especially that riff I open it with (a free drink to the first person to recognise where I “borrowed” it from). Don’t ya think?

Majority rule…. don’t work in mental institutions….

I know this song was originally about Mr Bush, and I know this song was originally a fast punk tune by NoFX.

My version is…. different. Its about politicians in general, and the media led culture that they and their corporate masters have fostered to control us. Mark my words, the new guy is just like the old guy.

Despite how much Barack Obama wants to talk about change, his biggest supporters are the same old white men on wall street, and nothing substantial will be different.

It may even get worse.

Of course, musically my version is also different…. more of an industrial grunge punk dirge…. or something….

And now for something completely different…. or not.

Unlike my previous entries in the uncovered series, this is a song that you’d expect me to do. Since it is September, and Metallica is about to release a new album, I thought I’d cover one of their tunes.

I picked Motorbreath because it was the first song that I taught myself…. The one that I practised for hours on end to get the speed and technique (and bad habits) that form the bedrock of my guitar playing. After this I had all I needed to tackle pretty much any other song I wanted. This is me kicking it oldskool, getting back to my roots…. and playing something that is fast, heavy and full of attitude.

Don’t stop for nothing, it’s full speed or nothing….
