ChaotiMusic 046 - Cult of the Seven

This is what happens when I play around with the chords to Lord I Lift Your Name On High, and take some inspiration from my new favourite band of the moment - The Birthday Massacre.

Of course, when you mix up all those elements, fold in my stream of subconsciousness lyrics, and pour on a bucket of lead guitar action it still ends up sounding like my usual unique experimetal.

But feel free to tell me what you think….

Lyrics:

Verse 1:
Step right through
Take a seat here
Please ignore
Stains on the floor.
Welcome to
Your darkest fear
It’s all right
Enter the light

Chorus:
You dream of heaven
Cult of the seven
Erode all reason
Carnage in season

Verse 2:
Open wide
We won’t be long
Soon you will
See your blood spill.
You can’t hide
Your choices wrong
You get iced
Just like your christ.

  1. I really liked this one, the bright notes over the top give it a good feel, and the chorus is pretty good. I probably preferred the simpler little lead guitar hooks, rather than the more insane, but muddier main solo section.

The faux strings at the start are pretty good, too. I’m noticing so many songs now have up to a minute or more of “lead in” stuff, like the faux-strings in this, or the stuff in the start of both the new Sevendust and new Disturbed albums… I personally prefer my rock/metal albums to start off with more punch, but anyways.

  2. Disturbed eh? That wouldn’t be the influence, as I’ve only just got their stuff off my girl. And before you ask, yeah we’re going to the gig.

I’d say the intro stuff is from listening to way too much oldschool metallica….
