ChaotiMusic.com 016 – Follow Where the Piper Leads

Music — drchaotica on November 11, 2007 at 7:40 am

This song grew out of the article by Naomi Wolf entitled “Fascist America in 10 easy steps”. It is sung from the point of view of the government propaganda, with a twist of Hamelin, and just a little 1984 for the sake of completing the cliché.

The music is a little different to my usual thrash, and was inspired in some part by the theme music of the wrestling site Ultimate Surrender. Which they play at the start of each round but also has a variation of just the first chord on the guitar with the bass playing the rest for the timeouts. That style is under the start of the “singing” in the chorus, with the riff actually coming in full after a couple of lines. I wanted the solo to evoke the sound of the sirens who are there to “protect” you.

As always, questions, comments, feedback and wiretaps can be directed to the usual places.

Lyrics:

Verse 1:
Look around you
Took your privacy
For your own good
Law is your nanny
Protection from evil
There is nowhere to hide

Prechorus:
Watch out, About
Everywhere, Enemies
We’ll tell you, What to do
We’ll tell you, What to think

Chorus:
To shelter you and protect you
The government knows what to do
To cleanse your mind of evil thoughts
And ensure that you don’t get caught
And end up in that gulag place
Or vanish without any trace
For national security
Follow where the piper leads
Ignorance is strength, Freedom is slavery

Verse 2:
Dissent is treason
Forment a fascist state
Control the media
Patrol paramilitary
Eroding liberty
Down the slippery slide
